What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the insertion of thin, solid, sterile, stainless steel needles at specific meridian points throughout the body. All needles are used one time and are discarded in a biohazard container.
How does acupuncture work?
Traditional Chinese Medicine states that health is dependent upon our body's vital energy, qi, to travel in a smooth and balanced way throughout our body. The flow of qi can be disturbed by physical or emotional stress, trauma, infection, weather conditions or genetics. Acupuncture restores the natural balance of qi, thus alleviating pain and imbalance in the body.
Does acupuncture hurt?
No. At insertion, the patient may feel some heaviness, tingling, or a slight sensation running up and down the meridian. After the needles are in, the patient often feels very relaxed and can even fall asleep.
How many treatments will I need?
This varies on the type of condition being treated. Unusually, after 3-4 treatments, we can tell if acupuncture has some positive effects on our patients.
What can I expect after the first treatment?
Patient's often experience change after the first treatment and receive relief in both symptoms and pain. You can expect to feel relaxed and able to resume your daily activities.
Is there anything I can do to enhance my acupuncture experience?
